Looking for an authentic day trip in Korea? Discover the top things to do in Danyang: Danyanggang Jando Trail, Mancheonha Skywalk, and a hidden sunset spot at Mt. Yangbangsan.
If you are looking to step off the beaten path in South Korea and escape the neon-lit streets of Seoul, Danyang(단양) should be at the very top of your travel bucket list. Nestled amidst dramatic limestone mountains and the winding Namhan River, Danyang offers some of the most breathtaking nature and adventure spots in the country.
Here is a scenic 1-day itinerary connecting three distinct highlights: a tranquil riverside cliff walk, a thrilling skywalk, and an accidental discovery of a hidden mountaintop sunset.
1. Danyanggang Jando Trail(단양강 잔도길): A Peaceful Walk Along the River Cliff

- Admission: Free
- Length: Approx. 1.2km (Flat wooden boardwalk)
- Accessibility: Wheelchair & stroller-friendly / Easy for all ages
Our day began along the Danyanggang Jando Trail, a stunning cliffside wooden boardwalk suspended right above the Namhan River. In Korean Jando(잔도) refers to a path built along a steep cliff face.

Why You’ll Love It
- Gentle & Barrier-Free: The entire 1.2km stretch is completely flat with no stairs, making it a peaceful, relaxing walk for families, seniors, and anyone wanting a low-impact stroll.
- Scenie Views: On one side, you have towering rocky cliffs; on the other, the gentle waters of the river with a scenic railway bridge in view.
- Direct Connection: If you are staying around the Danyang town area (such as Sono Moon Danyang Resort), you can walk straight to the trail entrace. Better yet, the trail naturally leads you directly to the next destination: Mancheonha Skywalk
Traveler’s Tip: There is a spacious free parking lot right at the trail entrance if you are traveling by rental car.
2. Mancheonha Skywalk (만천하 스카이워크): 360-Degree Panoramic Thrills

- Admission:
- Adults: 4,000 KRW
- Children / Youth / Seniors (65+): 3,000 KRW
- How It Works: Buy tickets at the base ticket office and Take the free shuttle bus up to the skywalk observatory.
Walking to the end of the Jando Trail brings you right to Mancheonha Skywalk, one of Danyang’s most recognizable modern landmarks.
Perched 80 to 90 meters above the river on an egg-shaped spiral structure, the observatory provides sweeping 360-degree views of the Namhan River basin and downtown Danyang.

What to expect
- The Climb: The spiral ramp slopes gently as you ascend. However, as you approach the top platform, the open breeze picks up and the sheer drop beneath the glass walkways will definitely get your adrenaline pumping!
- The View: Once you conquer the height, the sweeping panoramic landscape makes every step worth it.
Traveler’s Tip: Parking lots 1 and 2 closest to the ticket office fill up quickly on weekends and peak hours. If they are full, simply follow staff instructions to the nearby overflow lots and hop on the shuttle.
3. Mt. Yangbangsan Paragliding Launch Site: An Accidental Sunset Paradise

- Location: Top of Mt. Yangbangsan (양방산)
- Vibe: Raw, authentic paragliding site with unobstructed panoramic views (No cafes or convenience stores at the peak)
Danyang is famous for as the paragliding capital of Korea, and many visitors head to the popular mountaintop bakery Cafe Sann (카페산). However, a small navigation mishap led our car up a completely different mountain road to the Yangbangsan Paragliding Launch Site.

The Unexpected Highlight of the Trip
- The Drive: The winding road up Mt. Yangbangsan is exceptionally steep and narrow. If you are renting a car, ensure an experienced driver takes the wheel.
- The Raw Atmosphere: Unlike commercial cafes, this peak is an active takeoff ground with no shops or tourist facilities-just gliders catching the thermals.
- Golden Hour Magic: We arrived just as the sun began dipping below the peaks of Sobaeksan National Park. Watching the sunset cast a warm, crimson glow over the river valley while paragliders soared into the evening sky turned out to be the most unforgettable highlight of the entire trip.
